In light of recent events & newspaper articles, I trust that you and the other board members agree with the community that Don McKinney needs to be removed from the board. He is absolutely not the person I want spending my tax dollars & making decisions for our children. Thank you, Kim Thompson-Johnson.
ReplyDeleteIn Illinois, a school board member may only be removed in very limited circumstances. The regional superintendent has the power pursuant to 105 ILCS 5/3-15.5 to remove a school board member "for wilful failure to perform his official duties." In addition, pursuant to 5 ILCS 280/1, a school board member would become ineligible to continue in office upon conviction of "a felony, bribery, perjury, or other infamous crime." So, in Illinois, a school board does not have the authority to remove one of its members.
