Special Meeting of Minooka 201 School Board

The Minooka CCSD 201 school board will be holding a special meeting on Thursday, May 2, 2013.  The purpose of the meeting is mainly to canvass the results of the recent election, seat the new board members and reorganize the board.  The full meeting agenda, as well as additional information, is available here.  The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the board room (the old library) at the Minooka Primary Center located at 305 Church Street in Minooka.  As always, members of the public are welcome to attend.

  1. In light of recent events & newspaper articles, I trust that you and the other board members agree with the community that Don McKinney needs to be removed from the board. He is absolutely not the person I want spending my tax dollars & making decisions for our children. Thank you, Kim Thompson-Johnson.

    1. In Illinois, a school board member may only be removed in very limited circumstances. The regional superintendent has the power pursuant to 105 ILCS 5/3-15.5 to remove a school board member "for wilful failure to perform his official duties." In addition, pursuant to 5 ILCS 280/1, a school board member would become ineligible to continue in office upon conviction of "a felony, bribery, perjury, or other infamous crime." So, in Illinois, a school board does not have the authority to remove one of its members.
